BC on Seti River at Dhuli village.

The four-member American team went to the Raksha Urai/Saipal region of the northwestern district of Bhajang on a permit for Mt. Korko, a 6053m peak they paid no attention to. They actually were on an extensive trek.

They entered the area by flying on 30 September from Kathmandu wast to Dhangadi in the Terai and next day driving to Darchula. They trekked east to Dena on the Kalinga Narli River to its junction with the Seti River, then north along the Seti through Chainpur to a village called Dhuli (also called Saingaon), the last village on the Seti. They set up their BC here on 8 October at 2900m.

On 14 October they went from BC following the Seti to Naya Odar, a stone refuge for porters trading between Nepal and Tibet, and the next day they continued up the Seti to another such refuge called Garaphu Odar at 3800m. On the day after that, the 16th, they went for an acclimatization trek but were stopped by sheer cliffs at 4700m.

On 17 October they moved camp across the Seti to its west side and camped on the bank of a small stream at 3900m north-northwest of Garaphu Odar at the foot of a 5508m mountain northeast of Korko and east of the Raksha Urai range of 6000ers. On the 18th, Erickson, Garre and Laidlaw skied a south facing couloir on Pt 5508m while O'Neil took pictures of them.

On the 19th they went back to Naya Odar, and the next day to Dhuli. They were now on their way out. On the 22nd they took a new trail along a mountain ridge to Sunikot village, just above the Seti, and back along the Seti to Chainpur. From Chainpur they took a charter flight to Surkhet, a vehicle to Nepalgunj and a scheduled flight to Kathmandu. They arrived in Kathmandu on 25 October.
