Did no actual climbing. Fatal accident occurred during approach march on west side of Mesokantu La. Had left KTM 25th March and left Pokhara 26th March. 2 April made camp at 3800m. 3 April snowfall kept camp at same place but did some recce. 4th April planned to reach La, dump baggage and returned to camp; made deposit at 5000m (100m below/before pass) by 15 members. As returning to camp by 15 members, 10 members were caught by huge snow avalanche and carried down. 3 left on top when movement stopped and 7 members covered by snow. Wannenmacher freed himself immediately, 4 found quickly (3-5 mins) and heads freed, while Ebert and Springmann were found only after 10 minutes and gave no sign of life. Were buried next day at accident site.

Decided not to cross pass for climb partly for fear of more avalanching, so went back to Jomsom and up to Muktinath, crossed through La and trekked through Manang.
