Asian Trekking report (11 May 2016):

A team of 9 Sherpa climbers selected from different expedition teams including International Mountain Guides, Himalayan Experience, Madison Mountaineering, Asian Trekking, Adventure Consultants, Alpine Ascents, Himex, NCC, Arun Treks and Seven Summit Treks have summited Mt. Everest at 5:05 pm on Wednesday, 11 May 2016.

Shera Gyaljen Sherpa of Asian Trekking's Eco Everest expedition is one of the leading ropes fixing team to summit of Mt. Everest this year. The names of the summiteers are Gyalzen Dorjee Sherpa (Himex), Ang Pemba Sherpa (IMG), Nima Tshering Sherpa (AC), Pasang Tenzing Sherpa (Ascent Himalayas), Mingma Sherpa (Seven Summit Treks), Mingma Chhiri (NCC), Ang Gyalzen (Arun Treks) and Lhakpa Tshering Sherpa (HG).

KATHMANDU: The government on Sunday honoured nine Sherpa climbers who first stood atop the Mt Everest this season, amidst a function on the occasion of the ninth International Mt Everest Day.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli honoured members of the summit rope- fixing team including Gyalzen Sherpa, Gyalzen Dorjee Sherpa, Ang Pemba Sherpa, Nima Tshering Sherpa, Pasang Tenzing Sherpa, Mingma Sherpa, Mingma Chhiri Sherpa, Pasang Dorjee Sherpa and Lhakpa Tshering Sherpa with the cash prize of Rs 50,000 for each.


Note: Ministry gives Pasang Dorje Sherpa (23) of Arun Treks as summiter instead of Ang Gyalzen Sherpa.

These men worked their way to within 200 meters of the Balcony yesterday. After a short night at the South Col, they worked for 13 hours and all 9 stood on the summit of Mount Everest at 5:02 pm. They are all descending now to Camp 2 for tonight.
