Summit team left C4 at 2 am. Hard snow, good weather, no wind. [Stopped] below the summit on the ridge. They reached the mushroom rock below the cornice (picture attached) as the upper cornice was too dangerous. They spent about 30 minutes on the summit and descended to C3 (Goudzwaard, van Aalen, Nistelrooij at 3 pm and C2 (van der Meet, van de Ven, Vernooij, Veraart at 4.30 pm). Sherpas descended to BC. Two-thirds down from the summit they encountered soft snow and a snow bridge collapsed and Veraart fell in. But as they were all roped up he was safe.

Rest of the team reached various altitudes. The specific goal for the expedition was not to reach the summit as it was more of a training exercise by the Dutch Army. It was:

- for the benefit of the general goals execute a combined/joint expedition that,
based on our Corps Values "connectedness, strength and dedication", generates a
team effort to enable at least one climbing team of two men to climb the summit
of Manaslu.
- to ensure the safest possible execution through timely risk analysis.
