At 7800m, Poldersaart decided to turn back. He said he was not feeling well, Crampton thought his problem was probably more psychological than physical. Karma Gelgen retreated with him down to BC that day.

The others continued on to the top, where they arrived between 8:30 and 9:00 am. Brands, Seagram, Sindbaek and Wild stopped in C2 for the night, while all the others descended all the way to BC and got there at 5:00 pm.
