The expedition never reached their BC. Their approach march took them through Besisahar, Jagat and Tarapani to Koto. They had reached Tarapani on 13 October, and that night there was heavy rain that prevent their proceeding for a day. They managed to go on to Koto on the 15th, but next day they came to halt.

They now found that landslides and snow avalanches had so badly damaged their approach march route that they could not continue much farther; they turned around and went back to Koto and continued their retreat. They got back to Kathmandu on 22 October, and then went for a 15-day trek in the Rolwaling just before leaving Nepal on 9 November.
