Six of the eight Sherpas had been through the Icefall twice before to carry loads to C2, however no members went higher than BC. Even though Muhl and his team considered carrying on after the avalanche happened, Muhl realized that there was no point in waiting around and decided to cancel the expedition. They left BC on 27 April and took a helicopter to Lukla, where they stayed the night.
