For his second acclimatization rotation, Seelos left ABC on 5 May, stayed one night at C1 and then continued to C2 on 6 May. On 7 May he was on his way to the Makalu La, however, at about 6800m he started feeling dizzy, light-headed and nauseous. He decided to go back down to ABC that day and abandoned the expedition.

Another reason for abandoning the climb was the fact that Seelos had only climbed Mera Peak before and was not prepared for such a big mountain.
