Dong reached C2 during an acclimatization rotation and during her summit attempt on 15 May. As the weather was too windy on 16 May to climb to the Makalu La, she descended to ABC on 16 May and decided to abandon the expedition as she had already waited enough and needed to get back to China.
She left ABC on 17 May by helicopter.
