Mosedale's Sherpas had taken some loads to C2 prior to the fatal avalanche, which killed 16 Sherpas on 18 April.

We decided to trek out on 25 April and then departed on 26 April. All in all it was becoming an untenable situation and we felt that on the back of some other big teams withdrawing (for various reasons) that we couldn't justify staying. Partly it was becoming a difficult situation to put a positive spin on, but also we would have lost all our allies and we weren't keen on being forced in to teaming up with the remaining teams.

We were contemplating to continue. We decided to lie low for a while and had total embargo on any social media in case it got misinterpreted (unlike Joby who two days after the incident updated that he was looking forward to getting back on the hill (since removed) and he was made very unwelcome indeed - a tad tactless one might say). So our Sherpas all returned having had a few days at home and they wanted to go back to work. Unfortunately it became evident that the Sherpas were all getting a bit twitchy about the intimidation, so we considered going into the Icefall ourselves (my team along with Rob Casserley's, Tim Calder's and Henry's privated clients), but then we were advised by our Sirdar that this may cause a problem. We weren't sure whether it was us getting threatened (in which case "bring it on") or that our Sherpas would suffer in some way as a result of our actions. So we decided not to proceed and shortly after that it was time to go home.
