Lock arrived at BC the day the avalanche happened. He stayed for two days at BC and then went back down to Pangboche, where he had a puja in the monastery there. He returned to BC on 23 April to see what was happening, but when it became clear that the Sherpas were on strike, he left BC on 28 April.
