Four out of the eight members stayed long enough to make the bid for the summit. At 1:00 am on 26th September, Follows, Jones, Salomon and Michael Woodmansee left C3 for the top with five Sherpas, Kami Rita, Lhakpa Rita, Mingma Chhiri, Phura Kancha and Tshering Dorje. Their climb went smoothly in very calm and extremely clear weather, and all of them reached the top at 6:30 pm that morning. They descended to C1 at 1:00 pm and were in ABC the next day.

All members used oxygen sleeping in C2 to the summit and down to C2. Lhakpa Rita had fixed rope all day on the 25th without oxygen, so on the summit day he used it from C3 to the top and down to C3. The other Sherpas used none.

While he was fixing rope, Kami Rita was hit by an avalanche, and it gave him a sore shoulder that day, but the pain was gone the next day.

Non-summiting members:

Chambliss left the team on 21 September because of extreme exhaustion.

Heiderer reached C1 on the 18th with the other members, but left on the 21st because of altitude sickness.

Novak gave up the climb on her way to C1 on the 16th; she had become exhausted. She was not fit enough to continue.

Jana Woodmansee reached C1, but was not mentally prepared for the climb and left the team on 22 September.
