This huge expedition of 42 foreigners and 65 climbing Sherpas lent two of its Sherpas (Pasang Kami and Tsheten Dorje) to the joint rope-fixing effort, and then sent 20 members and 22 Sherpa helpers to the summit in three waves, on the 18th, 20th and 21st of May.

The first summit party was a small one who left for the top from C4 at 9:30 pm on 17 May. They were Hamill, Hasenstab, Heggland and Neil with seven Sherpas, Chhedar, Chewang Lendu, Pasang, Pemba, Sonam Dorje, Tashi Tshering and Thunang Lhomi (not a Sherpa). All summited between 5:55 and 7:30 am on the 18th. They were back in C4 between 3:30 and 5:00 that afternoon.

Two of these summiters, Niel and Chewang Lendu, went from C4 at the South Col that afternoon over to C4 for Lhotse, which had been established by expedition Sherpas while climbers were going to Everest's summit. The two then summited Lhotse the next day, 19 May.

The second Everest summit party started out from C4 at 7:30 and 9:00 pm on the 19th as 13 members and on equal number of Sherpas. But two foreigners Gibson and Merrin, dropped back and their Sherpas retreated with them. The successful members on 20th May were Ackles, Bunce, Hardt, Klitzke, Konow, Mainer, Marshall, Martin, Mauro, Rodgers and Snyder, and the Sherpas who went to the top with them were Danuru, Sona, Nima Thundu, Pasang Sona and Phinjo Dorje. They summited between 4:50 and 7:30 am on the 20th and went down to C2 between 2:00 and 6:30 pm that day except for Hardt who was too exhausted to descend below C4.

The third and final party began as a large group of nine members who set out for the summit between 7:30 and 9:00 pm on the 20th. However four of them did not get all the way to the top, so in the end only five summited on 21 May: Anderson, Beede, Ingram, Merle and Meyer, plus an equal number of Sherpas, Ang Gyalzen, Nuru Gyalzen, Pemba Nuru, Phinjo and Tenjing Gyalzen.

Oxygen was used by all members attempting the summit in and from C3 to their high points to C2. Their Sherpas used it in and from C4 to their high points to, but not in C4.

Non-summiting members:

Chris Bergum got to the bottom of the Hillary Step on 21 May, but his hands had become extremely cold, so he went down to C4 instead of continuing to the summit.

Nicholas Gibson went to 8300m with the summit party of 19/20 May, but was very tired, turned around and descended to C2.

Colin Merrin became too tired and suffered from a head cold, so when he reached 8200m on 19/20 May, he retreated to C2.

Ryoko Miyazaki got to 200m below the South Summit on 21 May when he realized he was too tired to get to the summit and return safely, so he also descended to C2.

Ms. Ning Ting reached 300m above the Balcony on 21 May, was too tired to continue, and went back to C2.

Robert Smothers was another who became too exhausted to go to the summit; he got to 200 below the South Summit on 21 May, then retreated to C2.

Death:
Da Rita Sherpa, 25/11/76, Phortse, died of a heart problem in C3 on 5 May.
