On 21st April, Gavin Vickers left after a freezing cold night at C1, then reached almost to the Makalu La, around 7200m. Then he had some respiratory problems and begun to get frozen fingers, so descended back to C1 that day.

The day after, he was back to the ABC and reached Hillary BC on the 27th where he waited 2 days for the helicopter (bad weather conditions). On the 30th April he with Aschwanden, Celikovic, Gheichisaz and Yang flew back from BC to Kathmandu by helicopter.

Vickers had [Lhakpa] Dendi Sherpa assigned to him as a part of the cost of the expedition, but did not use him. Dendi later summited with the Azim Gheichisaz group on 23 April.
