Olive Carreras got the beginning of pulmonary edema (bad cough), then cerebral edema, and was evacuated by helicopter from Pangboche on 1 May.
Ribas didn't want to climb solo after departure of Carreras, so he teamed up with the Italians, Luca and Gian Francesco. They made their attempt and went back to BC all together from C2 on the 16th of May.
