The team enjoyed a very good acclimatization period of 8 days, with 2 times a day trip to C1. On 5th of October the team slept at C1, the day after went to C2 and back to the BC. On 8th of October the team could start its summit attempt.

On 11th October: after a little snow the day before and a stormy night at C3 5 members went on summit (except Rainer Pieber) with Chuldim and Pemba Sherpa. Karma stayed with the doctor below. The team stayed no more than 5 minutes on the summit because of the cold and on their way back met Pieber and Karma who turned back with them to C3. [Pieber turn-around altitude estimated at 6800m].

On 12th of October: all team was back from C3 to BC.

On 13th of October: Doctor Rainer Pieber was evacuated by helicopter in Dhulikhel because of his frostbites.

Accidents etc:

With temperatures measured at -15/20 degrees C and 60 km/h wind during the summit day, all members got light frosbites, mostly on the toes, but not too serious. Only Rainer Pieber had blue toes and had to be later evacuated.

Fixed rope and Sherpas:

The whole route is not technically difficult and not exposed to avalanches. Only the part between BC and C1 is exposed to stones and blocks coming from the crest of the moraine above. Anyway the Sherpas put 80m to 100m of fixed rope between C1 and C2, around 5900m.
