The three climbers established C1 at 5750m on 10 October.

Then Williamson had to leave the expedition when he received the news that his grandfather had died. He took a helicopter to Kathmandu on the 12th and left Nepal the next day.

On the 14th Szymiec and Samimi reoccupied C1. But they felt the normal route they were following was too overcrowded for them to enjoy the climb, so they abandoned the idea and on the same day retreated to BC to return to Kathmandu.
