Pasang and Myrer-Lund were on their way up to put up C1 at about 5700m on 19 April. When they got around 5400m an avalanche hit the team. Myrer-Lund was thrown into the air twice and landed some 300m down. His left leg was broken in two places and some ribs too. Pasang was lucky as he had some brushes on his hip and on his arm. Shocked Pasang came down to ABC and said that Myrer-Lund was dead. Then Einang and Smakasin went up to the site and they found Myrer-Lund was in great pain and feeling very cold. Later Hjort too came up and other Sherpas. Myrer-Lund was wrapped with mattress and they pulled him down close to 5000m and spent the night in a tent. Myrer-Lund got medication but the pain was severe. Next day the team brought down Myrer-Lund to ABC. In the morning around 9:30 am Myrer-Lund was heli-lifted to Samagaon with Smakasin then to Kathmandu. He was admitted to Norvic Hospital. On 23 April rest of the members returned to Kathmandu by helicopter.

Einang said that there was snowfall nearly every day during the expedition. The climbing route too had lots of snow, at some places it was waist-deep.
