The three Spaniards were semi-independent of Peter Hamor (who held the permit) and Horia Colibasanu.
Martina and Egocheaga left C4 on 21 May at 2:00 am and summited at 1:00 pm. They returned to C4 at 7:00 pm.
Fernandez, who set out from C4 with them, was not such a fast climber as his two teammates and had reached only 8350m at 1:00 pm. He then decided it was too late for him to continue his ascent. He turned around and descended to C4 at 4:00 pm. He was back in BC on the 22nd.
