Lock left C2 at 8:30 pm on 26 May for his summit push. When he started there has no wind, but it got increasingly windy and cold during the climb. He decided to turn back when he reached about 8000m as he was worried about frostbite. He got back to C2 at 1:30 am and spent a very stormy night there. He was contemplating going back up, but wind did not ease off. On 27 May he descended to ABC.
