Marmet's plan was to do speed climb on Manaslu without spending much time for acclimatization process. But it did not work. According to Marmet the reasons for not being able to achieve his goal mainly were inappropriate food intake, less water intake and not enough sleep. He thinks these factors caused the leg pain. All in all his assessment was that the body was not able to adopt enough to go for the summit.
