Three members, Julia Cadiach, her father Oscar Cadiach and Joan Fernandez, made their first attempt to reach the summit on 1 October, when they set out from C3. But they got to only 7700m, where the strong wind turned them around, and they returned to C3. The wind got even stronger during the night, and the next day they returned to BC.

On the 5th, the three Spaniards plus their kitchen boy, Karma Gyalzen Sherpa, left BC and climbed to C1. The next day, which was cold and windy, Oscar and Julia Cadiach went back to BC, but Fernandez and Karma Gyalzen continued up to C2. Again the wind increased in strength during the night; it was no blowing at 40-50km/hr every day. They retreated to BC on the 7th, and the climb was finished.

Perez had arrived at BC a week after the others and moved up the mountain alone. He first went to C1 on 28 September. On 4 October, he climbed to 6400m, where the Spanish climber Xavi Arias had a tent at a low C2 at this altitude, and where he spent that night. On the 5th, he went up to 7000m and down to the low C2. He had intended to stay in the team's high C2 at 6900m, but fog prevented him from finding the camp. He slept in low C2. The next day, the 7th, he did get to high C2, only to descend to BC with the others that day.
