원정 개요

The summit party consisted of ten members and eight Sherpas: Ballinger, Bergsma, Bierling, Brice, Gabriele, Holt, Millard, Miller, Parore and Woodward with Dorje Sonam Gyalzen, Lhakpa Nuru, Nima Tshering, Nuru Gyalzen, Pasang Kami, Phurba Tashi, Son Dorje and Tashi Tshering.

All reached the summit on 1 October, but because the summit of Manaslu is rather small, all could not be on the top together. They left C4 together at 7:00 am and the first on the summit were Ballinger, Parore and Dorje Sonam Gyalzen at 10:34 am. The last were Bierling, Pasang Kami and Phurba Tashi at 11:54 am.

Ballinger, Gabriele, Holt and all the Sherpas descended all the way to BC at 7:00 pm the same day. Everyne else stopped in C2 at 3:40 pm for the night.

Oxygen was used by all member summiters from C3 to the top to C2. The summit Sherpas began using it from C4 and stayed on it to the summit; some descended on oxygen until their supplies ran out before C2, while others used none in the descent.

Non-summiting members:

Ollivier reached 400m above C1 but later hurt his shoulder and left the expedition by helicopter on 26 September.

Suzuki got to C3 but did not sleep there; she was not strong enough to continue and left in Ollivier's helicopter on the 26th.

Van den Broeke also reached C3, did not sleep there, was climbing too slowly, so he also left on the 26th in Ollivier's helicopter.
