In his summit bid on 6 October, Febbroni started out from C4 at 8:00 am with three Spaniards from two different teams, Sechu Lopez and Xavi Arias and his teammate Unai Llantada. But they went at their separate paces and reached different points on the mountain. Febbroni got to 7850m at about 2:00 pm and then turned around. It was too late for a safe trip to the top and back to C4. The deep snow had made progress slow and tiring. He retreated to C2 that day and BC the next day.
