Nikitin was independent on the mountain. Since Shismov another Russian climber was also on the same permit, Nikitin was climbing with him. Both of them sleeping in one tent in the middle camp between C1-C2 (6800m). Shismov said in night on 2 May Nikitin told him that he had stomach pain. There was nothing abnormal with him except the stomach pain. Spanish climber Ms. Lopez and her Sherpa Lhakpa also were in the same camp. Next morning 3 May Shismov found Nikitin dead. The dead body was brought down to ABC on 16 May and to Kathmandu on 18 May.
