The expedition mounted one summit bid: on 28 September, six members and five Sherpas left C4 for the top at 4:00 am, and all were on the summit between 8:40 and 9:30 am (there was little space for all of them to stand on the summit together). They were Ballinger, De Lint and Kuraoka spent the night in C2 while all other summiting members returned to BC at 6:45-7:00 pm. De Lint and Kuraoka were back in BC on then next day.

Oxygen was used by all members who summited: De Lint started using it from C3; all the others used it in and from C4 to the top to C2 or, like De Lint, wherever their supplies ran out before reaching there. Sherpa summiters used it from C4 to the top to C2 or whereever it ran out.

It was necessary to use much more fixed rope this autumn than last year because there were now very many crevasses, and these had to be fixed for the Sherpas carrying loads.
