Some climbers made their summit bids directly from C2 and others from C3. Those from C2 left camp at 10:00 pm on the 23rd of September; they were Bailey, Brown, Calder, Chapman, the Finlayson brothers, and eight Sherpas: Ang Dawa, Lila Bahadur Basnet, Mingma Tsiri, Pem Chhiri, Pemba Chhiring, Pemba Tharke, Thundu Sherpa and Tshering Pemba. Calder abandoned his attempt at C3 because of a faulty oxygen system while the rest went to the summit.

Bond, Branford, Crooke, Darby, Groves, Murrell, Purdy and Scott set out for the summit from C3 at 11:15 pm of the 23rd. Branford got to the rock band (about 7700m), was very tired and gave up. The others went to the top.

The summit was reached on 24 September at various times. The first was Bailey at 4:50 am; the last was Murrell at 7:00 am.

Bond summited despite serious breathing problems: he suffered from trachiacast, which meant that his throat filled with phlegm, but he could cough it up, and his breathing rate was irregular.

Other non-summiting members:

Smith went to ABC on 4 September and slept there, but he was not acclimatizing well and left the expedition on the 6th.

Worrall slept in C1 on 11 September, was not acclimatizing well and during the night suffered from irregular breathing. He went down to ABC. He tried to go to C1 on the 15th, but felt worse, and he left the expedition on the 19th.

Oxygen was used by all members who left in summit bids, from C2 or C3, whichever they started from, to the summit to C3. The Sherpas used none.
