BC below East Col
ABC above West Col on plateau between East and West Col.

Twenty four of the expedition's thirty-three porters deserted before arrival at BC, the reason for which Donovan doesn't know. This left the team low on food by the time they established ABC, and forced the cancellation of the climb, which was especially unfortunate because the weather was "fantastic."

They retreated over the West Col to make a new BC near the lake where most expeditions put their BCs. The new camp was pitched at 5550m on 6 November and a helicopter evacuation requested. The winds were too strong for the helicopter to come on the 7th, but it managed to arrive on the 8th to take the entire party to Kathmandu.

On the 6th, a member and a kitchen boy had already been evacuated by helicopter: King with mild pulmonary edema and the kitchen boy with cerebral edema.
