On 17 May Klein ascended from C3 to C4, where he arrived at 2 pm. As it was only for acclimatization he descended to C2, arrived at 5 pm. Varkonyi was at C2 on 17 May and returned to BC that day. Klein descended to BC on 18 May where team met up.

They started summit push 24 May. C3 on 25 May. Klein returned to C2 same day due to chest infection. He descended to BC on 26 May. Varkonyi stayed at C3 on 25 May, then reached C4 on 26 May. But on 27 May he decided to abandon climb due to bad cough. He descended to C3. On 28 May he went to C2; on 29 May he went to Gorak Shep where met Klein again.
