Tibet Gods Mountain Chomolungma Expedition - Spring 2007
According to Tshering Palden Bhote, who runs Himalayan Guides Trekking, this expedition was financed by one of China's wealthiest women, Mrs Wang Qui-Yang. She also supported the Olympic Torch expedition, but this was a separate team. Wong Yong-Feng was the leader of both teams.
This team had a total of about 25 members and support staff, and they were joined by one man from the Olympic torch expedition, Sun Bin, after the Olympic team had left the mountain.
According to Ang Phurba, of Great Escapes Trekking, which sent Tshering Palden and another Sherpa to this team (six other Sherpas came from Rolwaling Excursions), Mrs Wang was a previous client of Wang Yong-Feng, and she summited Cho Oyu on his expedition in autumn 2006. Tshering Palden said all the Chinese members of the Tibet Gods team summited Cho Oyu in 2006 with Wang Yong-Feng.
The first summit team left C3 at 10:00 pm (CST) on 20 May and reached the summit at 6:00 am (3:45 NST) on the 21st. They descended to ABC at 7:00 pm that day.
The second summit team left C3 at 11:30 pm (CST) on 23 May and were on the summit at 6:00 am (3:45 NST) on the 24th. Mrs Wang, Fan, Tsering Dendu, Tashi Phuntsok and Tshering Palden Bhote descended to C1 at 2:00 pm, while all other summiters went down to ABC at 5:00 pm.
Oxygen: Mrs Wang used it from C1 to summit to ABC; all other Chinese members from 7500m to summit to C1; Tibetans and Bhote in C2, in C3 to top to C3.
