Laborde and Pasang Sherpa left C4 at 8:30 pm on 15 May. It was very windy but clear. The Benegas team was in front of them. The ascent was without problems. No waiting at the Hillary Step. When they got to South Summit, Pasang decided to turn back as he thought Laborde was too slow. They spent about one hour at 8750m and descended to C4, where they arrived at 8 am. They spent 1 night there and descended to C2 on 17 May; one day rest at C2 and descended to BC on 18 May.
