High point at 5800m.

At Pangboche, where they arrived evening of 13th, Brown and Twelker learned from lodge owner about fatal avalanche. They left all gear at Pangboche and went to BC with Grant, who had left gear at BC and C1, to see situation on mountain but had really thought not safe to climb. From BC Brown and Twelker went up to C1 site, had lunch there, decided area of serac too unstable to climb beneath or over so abandoned any lingering hope of climbing mountain at this time (come back some other day). Stayed at BC another night.
