Grunert reached C4 on 17 May. However the weather was bad and he decided to wait for his summit bid for another day. He was together with Sue Fear and her Sherpa Bishnu Gurung. The weather did not improve and they decided to descend to BC on 19 May. They left C4 at 10 am and arrived at BC at 7 pm. He left BC. The next day and arrived in Kathmandu on 24 May.
