Astori left C2 at midnight, Piantoni left at 2 am (Nepali time). The reason for Piantoni to leave later was that he climbed without oxygen and did not want to climb in the cold for too long. He caught up with Astori at about 8500m and they carried on together. They were on the summit on their own and stayed on the summit for 40 minutes.
