C2 at NE Ridge.

6 May Lopez and 4 Italians (Benet Team) left C2 at 4:00 am in summit push and reached 7600m, sat down to rest, saw clouds coming in, so decided to abandon attempt and started descent at 1:43 pm and at C1 at 3:45-4:00 pm. Slept in C1. 7th learned by walkie-talkie that Pauner of Spanish team had ordered helicopter from BC. Reached BC about 9:15 am, rushed down to catch helicopter and left BC gear behind for Iranians to bring to Kathmandu. Broke trail for all teams from BC to C1 twice, climbing solo; others fixed rope. Gave up because bad weather and wanted to climb as self-sufficient climber and saw no more motivation.
