Mees left C3 at 9 am on May 20 for South Col where he reached at 4 pm. His Sherpa Chawang Dorje stayed in C3 because he had stomach problem. Mees left South Col at 9:30 am and reached 8600m (about) at 4 am of 21st then he realized that his feet started getting cold, was tired and same time wind started blowing. Then he turned back and reached South Col at 7:30 am. Rested there for sometime, descended to C2 where he reached at about 7 pm. There was not enough rope. While climbing Sergei Bondarenko (Russia) was ahead of him, behind him was Moskaleva and a Sherpa followed by Sanjuan Lara, Woodhouse and Maskaleva's Sherpa.

Mees returned to KTM on May 27 and will leave on June 3. Mees said last year he was on north side of Everest and no success. Knowing good success rate on south side last year, he came to try from south side.
