Karma left C3 around midnight and reached summit shortly after Marco (Slovenian) on the descent. He saw Marco at about 50m below the summit. He was sitting down and resting and told Karma to move on. A day later he was found dead.

Karma carried his things himself to North Col. He then paid 2 Sherpas (he did not want to give names) to carry his things to 8300m. It was windy at summit but clear. No one else was on top when he was there and he has no pictures (his camera batteries had frozen).


9 June - Members of UK Everest (North) Expedition said Gyeltshen's summit claim was doubted by climbers at ABC; he was not strong or expert climber, he moved very slowly and elapsed time he gave was inconsistent with his expedition.
