C1 made quickly because Americans had already nearly finished putting in route (for which paid Americans $3500 and similar amount to Koreans). Spent 1-1/2 hrs on top to take photos and Boivin's parapente flight of 12 mins from summit to C2 (took time to get wind properly in his parapente for take off). No ski descent (Batard had ordered Sherpa to throw most of skis in river below BC and LO said all such descents forbidden). Only one summit bid because had to leave BC 28th Sept for jobs back in France (and to be in France same time as Batard to get share of publicity).

Batard arrived at summit while Metzger, et al still there.

Batard and Poissonnier did not speak to each other; enmity originated in Dec 1987 when Batard ended Dhaulagiri I climb before Poissonnier and others were ready to climb.

5 French and 3 Sherpas climbed Everest via SE Ridge
Reached the summit at 2:30 pm and stayed there for 1-1/2 hours.
Left C4 at 3 am on 26 Sept.
Left summit at 4 pm same day and stayed at C4 on that day.
