Team never went to BC, never climbed Pumori.

Team climbed Lobuche East on 28th October. They rested in Dughla on 29th. On 30th Oct Davis, Smailes and Whiteway went to have a look at Cholatse and scrambled up a buttress leading up to NW Ridge at about 5000m. Whiteway and Davis returned to Dughla at about 12:30 whilst Smailes stayed on buttress. At 2 pm the two decided to look for Smailes and found him about 50m below buttress at 2:30. They carried him down on stretcher. Called helicopter from satellite phone but landing impossible due to fog. He died at around 5 pm. He had major injuries to all his head. Team pitched tent to leave body just below Dughla at 4600m. They went to Dughla to spend night.
