Both members left C3 29 Sept 4:00 am Chinese Time; Grunert at 7600m turned around about 4:30 am because toes getting very cold (and are now still numb) and returned to C3 to wait for Lemmerz, who summited 10:15 am, first person on top that day, saw Everest and Nuptse and returned to C3 at 12:00 noon. Both stayed in C3 another night because Grunert hoped toes would be better next day and he could go to top, but they weren't so both members down to ABC on 30th.

Grunert to return to Cho Oyu at 2005 but trekking agency and permit not known; arranged by Tshering Tamang.
