On 29 Oct tried to go to West Col to establish C1 there, but snow that day, too difficult, "draining out energy," so back to BC and waited for snow to stabilize and others to join effort to go higher. But French had only just arrived and in no hurry to start climbing. No more time to wait and climb, so decided 1 Nov to abandon climb.
