Liszewski was extremely independent, climbed with no one else and spoke seldom to others but did, said Bojoukov, help repair other teams' tent broken by winds and cooked pancakes for others. Brice team members found his tent at C2 destroyed after he had been missing for 6 days, said Bojoukov, [Brice figured 7 days]. Bojoukov went up to C2 to look for him on 30th May but did not find him. His body was found by yakmen on 31 May, according to Bojoukov; Brice said when he was descending from North Col he saw 3 yakmen on East Rongbuk Glacier near ABC find Liszewski's body there at 5500m, where he landed in fall from C2; no hat, gloves or boots were on fallen body, which was badly smashed up. Brice speculates strong wind may have blown Liszewski off balance when he went out from tent to collect snow to melt. Bojoukov said Liszewski did not understand how to climb in this season's bad weather conditions of much snow and strong winds, which forced him to stay on mountain long time and lose strength. Skripko said he thought he heard Liszewski's distinctive voice at C1 in the morning of 24 May but not certain of this. Skripko took Pole's passport and other items at ABC in Pole's bag, gave bag to liaison officer, who extracted passport.
Email from Polish climber Piotr Pustelnik, who scaled Everest via North Col routes in May 1995: Regarding Liszewski's fall,"when you fall from very high, you can stay on Rongbuk Glacier, but if you fall from lower altitude, you can go to Long Couloir and land on East Rongbuk."
