Austrian-Swiss Expedition to Annapurna IV
Annapurna IV · 1983 · 가을 (3) · Switzerland
원정 개요
BC on east side of NW Ridge of Annapurna IV on the ridge (reached via Honge village).
1st summit party on top at about 4:00 pm in not difficult climb (same even without crampons) and establish C3 at about 8:00.
2nd summit party (Weissensteiner, Zoechling, Svajda and Moti Lal Gurung) moved to C3 on 7th to go to Japan 8th and started at 7:00 am for summit on 8th but on the way Moti Lal delayed progress with need for massaging cold toes. At small peak on ridge bad weather moved in and decided to turn around at 7000m and return to C3 at 3:00 pm which now was empty. Snowed that night and went to BC on 9th. Now no time left for another summit bid and weather still bad.
Same as Australian autumn 1982 in 1st ascent. Technically not difficult but lot of snow which meant potential danger.
