Went quickly to the face but too much snow, dangerous crevasse area where snow covered them from sight; also dangerous seracs falling. Left BC 7th April was in Pokhara yesterday morning, Kathmandu later same day. Another reason to abandon Annapurna for Everest is that he has had a problem with his knee for six years & there are doctors at Everest base camp: "better to go to Everest quickly."
Hirsh did not go on to face. He is coming to KTM with baggage, will arrive KTM about 12 April & will then go to Khumbu to join Batard (actually arrived KTM 10 April).
