C2 not occupied by Mr and Mrs Roche.

21 May 10:30 pm for top - Roux on top 5:00 pm NST, Roche and Bernier Roche on top at 8:00, Trommsdorff on top 1:00 pm without oxygen. Short on oxygen so could not make another camp above 7900m. Roches on top for 2 hours taking pictures, took oxygen off to prepare gliders for flight. Took off with glider at 10:10 am and flew to ABC at ABC 10:22 am, landed safely on feet area with no problem. Very experienced in paragliding; were French champions in '97 and run own paragliding school - "brilliant flight." Roux return in BC at 3:30 pm - Christian slept at 7900m again and to ABC 23 May 1:00 with no health problem.

21 June (email from Claire Roche): "Our flight from the summit to advance camp lasted only between 8 to 12 minutes. Our Sherpa Lhakpa Geljen, 26 years old, climbed up to 8300m but then we had a frosted regulator and he had to give me his and go down; then we were alone till the summit. We were followed by the Sherpas of Bernard Muller [another French expedition leader]. but I do not know their names." Lhakpa Geljen summited with Spaniards in 2000.
