After attempt on Nuptse, Nix and Ruemmer went to try Cho Oyu without authorization. From 1st high camp at 6300m on west side "killer slope", Nix climbed slope and moved east to Cho Oyu's icefall; stopped here and returned to camp, where Ruemmer had stopped because of an infection.

Climb now abandoned because no food left and had failed to catch up with Mischa Saleki, who was on his own unauthorized attempt with 3 Sherpas.
