Summit success team left C3 6:30 NST: Chomczyk, Pawlowski and Zaluski. Chomczyk at about 8000m at 2:00 pm and turned back by Pawlowski because too late. Chomczyk again to top from C3 behind 2 Americans (probably from Mazur's team - 1 from Czech team). Milosevic died.

Report on Death of Mr. Pavle Milosevic, born May 1, 1950

On October 10 at approximately 16:00 a message was received at the advanced base camp (ABC) via radio-telephone, that Pavle (50) at that time was descending from the C1 (6500m), is not feeling well and requires assistance with his further descent. Four members of the Polish Cho Oyu 2000 expedition left the ABC immediately carrying tea, food and some pain-killing medicine.

Pavle continued his descent initially with Ryszard Kowalewski with whom he spent previously two nights in C1 (6500m), two nights in C2 (7200m) and two nights in C3 (7500m).

During his further descent from C1 on October 10, Pavle was also helped by three members of the international climbing expedition lead by Daniel Mazur of Seattle, USA. Soon the above group was joined by other members of Mazur's expedition, an Ukranian Slava and Nepalese staff. Altogether there were up to 16 people involved in the rescue effort.

Pavle received some liquids and stimulating injections. And the time during the rescue action we were in a radio-telephone contact with an American physician, Dr Roblee Allen, who was writing for us at the advanced base camp.

At approximately 0:30 on October 11 Pavle was delivered to the ABC. The doctor administered further injections, oxygen and placed Pavle for 2 hours in a Gamov bag. After that treatment, Pavle's conditions improved significantly. He communicated with the doctor and us, his vital signs were correct and his body temperature was normal. All of us retired at 3:30 full of optimism. Pavle reminded breathing auxilliary oxygen and was under direct care of the doctor. At approximately 5:30 Pavle stopped breathing and could not be revived. Dr Allen established that the cause of death was cardiac arrest.

Pavle was buried on October 11 in a stone cairn located on the glacier in front of the advanced base camp.
