BC at lower Makalu BC ESE of point 6380m Schneider map
C1 west of point 6093 and north of Sherpani Col
C2 at normal C2 for teams from east
High point on SE Ridge.

Tried for top on 21 April. Mehnert, Meutzner, Wiegand and Zill reached 7000m, but route very difficult and snow and wind drove back to C2. 1st May same people tried for top, got to 7050m and again same bad weather so abandoned Baruntse on 2 May for Makalu while others left 8 May.

Never returned to Baruntse after death of Mehnert [on Makalu] and weather not really much better than before.

[Hartung and Augermann only attempted Baruntse, then departed with a trekking group.]
