C2 never slept in. 2 parties totaling 9 men carried supplies to it's site and pitched tent, but slept in C1. 11th Sept all down to BC to say goodbye to sick leader; mailrunner left BC 11th Sept to summon helicopter to evacuate him. All stayed in BC till his death on 14th. On rainy 15th-16th Lee and 6 Nepalis went up to clear C2 and C1.

Leader caught cold one week before arrival at BC; cold got better but developed bad headaches and got sicker and sicker, probably high altitude sickness; was 62 years old.
