BC beyond fork of Modi Khola
C1 at base of South Ridge
C2 on west face of South Ridge
C3 on west side of South Ridge
High point at the icefall.
On April 25 Bricknell, Baldwin and Benitez left C2 at 5:00 am NST to find route through icefall and dropped off gear (2 tents) at 6000m. Between 25 April and 8 May the team experienced extremely hot weather that melted the glacier a lot, huge crevasses opened and the climbers could not get back to their 6000m high point. After trial and error they found a new route to put in a C3 at 5700m. The weather continued to be hot, which caused the route to melt even more; there large seracs falling, crevasse bridges melting and the rockfall hazard between C1 and C2 was extreme.
* Anne McDavid went below C2.
* Linda Keyes left BC 11th May to return to work at home.
* They could not find a route above C3 because of the glacier being broken up and
the route from C2 to C3 became very dangerous (serac fall and large crevasses).
* Getting to BC was difficult.
They had to lower some of their porters over at 50 ft cliff to get to the site
of Base Camp. This is where the Modi Khola splits into a fork.
